Drought

Drought which is marked by the absence of or low rain in a particular region for a long period of time occurs because of various reasons including global warming, deforestation and many other human activities. This climatic condition can cause disastrous impact on the environment as well as the living beings. Some of the effects of drought include failure of crops, financial loss, and price rise and soil degradation.

Several Indian states have been hit by drought leading to mass destruction of crops and disruption of the normal functioning of the society. Many parts have even witnessed famine leading to the death of several people due to starvation. Looking at the adversities faced by people in such areas, the government of India has come up with various drought relief plans however a lot more needs to be done to control this problem and deal with its after effects.

Some of the solutions suggested in this direction are rainwater harvesting, recycling and reuse of water, controlling deforestation, sea water desalination, cloud seeding, growing more plants and trees, stopping overall waste of water. However, most of these cannot be achieved if the general public does not support the cause. Each one ought to therefore take it as a responsibility to contribute his/ her bit to curb the matter.

Flood

Tsunami

Melting Ice Caps: The melting of the polar ice caps is caused by the overall increase in global temperature, and this melting can have serious consequences for all organisms on Earth. Besides being important for marine life, ice caps help regulate sea level and global temperatures.

Not only does the melting of the ice caps increase the volume of water in the oceans, it also decreases the salinity, or salt content. Polar ice caps are made of fresh water, so adding a lot of fresh water without adding more salt makes the ocean water less saline. This can cause problems for organisms that are well adapted to the very salty ocean waters.

Necessity of Afforestation

However, there are many disadvantages too which will be attributed to conversion. These are as follows:

• It may affect biodiversity: Poor management may cause reduction of biodiversity in the ecosystem.

• Opportunity cost.

• Increases risk of wildfire.

Save Environment

Environmental pollution must be stopped to secure the planet for our successors. We should keep our planet healthy to stay ourselves match and healthy. Our system is in real bother thanks to this environmental pollution. We should think about it as a very important task to prevent environmental pollution to depart the world safe for our successors. People have to be compelled to be acutely aware to save lots of or shield our surroundings for future generation.
