Kanyashree Prakalpa
West Bengal has an adolescent population (10-19 years), of which 48.11% are girls .The age group 10-14 years forms 9.7% of the total population (According to Census 2011). Kanyashree Prakalpa has been Protecting and empowering all adolescent girls. It has also been supporting their healthy environment by creating and enabling environment for their participation and meaningful contribution to society.
Kanyashree Prakalpa 2013, inaugurated by our present Honorable Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee has an aim to improve the status and well-being of girl child in the state. It has been upheld by the department of Woman Development and social Welfare, Government of West Bengal.
According to the scheme all unmarried girls between the age of 13-18 years and belonging to classes 8 to 12 in Government-recognized regular or equivalent vocational technical training course are eligible for this scheme. Under the scheme an amount of R.s 500/- will be provided to girl children annually. If the girl has reached the age of 18, she will be provided a Sum of R.s 25000/- one time. This project of the Government is surely going to help the girl of the age group covered by the Scheme.
