Jagadish Chandra Bose was one of the brilliant scientists of the 19th century. He was born on 30 November 1858 in Munshiganj, Bangladesh.
His parents were Lord Chandra Bose and Bamsundari Devi. He completed his primary education in Faridpur, Bangladesh. Later, he was admitted to St. Xavier's School and College.
He obtained his BA and BSc degrees from Calcutta University. He did his DSC from Cambridge University.
On his return from London he became a professor at Presidency College. He invented the radio, the photometer, and the crescographs to prove that the plant had life. He established the Basu Institute in Calcutta.
He, a devotee of science, left this world on November 23, 1937, living behind a name that never dies.

Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose was a biologist, physicist, botanist and early author of science fiction. He had inaugurated the study of radio and microwave optics. Also he had made significant contributions to botany, and laid the foundations of experimental science in the Indian subcontinent. He was called the father of radio science.
He had invented crescographs to measure plant growth. A hole in the moon has been named in his honor. He founded the Bose Institute, a major research institute in India and one of its oldest. Founded in 1917, the Bose Institute was the first interdisciplinary research center in Asia.
Born in Munshiganj, Bose graduated from St. Xavier's College, Calcutta (now Kolkata, West Bengal, India) during the Bengal Presidency of India (now in Bangladesh). He went to study medicine at the University of London, England, but could not because of health problems.
Instead, he conducted his research with Nobel laureate Lord Releg at Cambridge and returned to India. He joined the Presidency College of Calcutta University as a Professor of Physics. In spite of many obstacles in his way of scientific exploration, Bose continued his scientific research.
He gained huge headway in the investigation
of far off remote flagging and was quick to utilize a semiconductor
intersection to distinguish radio signs. However, instead of trying to gain
commercial advantage from this discovery, Bose made his discoveries public in
order to allow others to further develop his research.
Bose later discovered several novelties in plant physiology. He used his discovery, the crescograph, to measure the response of plants to various stimuli, and thereby demonstrated scientific parallels between animal and plant tissues.
To facilitate his research, he created an automatic recorder capable of recording extremely small movements; these instruments produced some amazing results, such as the trembling of injured plants, which Bose described as the power of feeling plants.
