    1. Read the passage and answer the following questions

    I was having tea at home on the evening of 30 January 1948, when I was called to Birla House on an emergency telephone. Gandhiji was shot while on his way to a prayer meeting. As soon as I got in the car, I was shocked.

    Gandhiji's family and followers gathered around his body at Birla House. There was silence in the room as soon as Gandhiji breathed his last. The news of Bapuji's death spread like wildfire in Delhi. A gloomy group of men and women gathered around Birla House. A gray hazy face could be seen outside each window. There was none to make any sound. There was an unnatural silence. It was as if time had stopped for a few minutes.

    2. Read the message and answer as directed:

    Guwahati: Assamese film ‘Ishu' has bagged the special jury award in the Indian competition section of the 10th Bangalore International Film Festival, which concluded on Thursday.

    Directed by film critic Utpal Borpujari, ‘Ishu' looks at the inhuman practice of witch hunting prevalent in Assam through the eyes of a child whose favourite aunt is branded a ‘witch’ by the village Bej (quack) in conspiracy with another aunt.

    The film is produced by the Children’s Film Society, India. ‘Ishu’, the debut feature film of Borpujari, was adapted from Assamese novelist, Manikuntala Bhattacharjya’s novel by the same name.
