 Train Accident! 5 Killed, 45 Injured

Mainaguri, 13 January, 2022: On Thursday afternoon, on the way from Jalpaiguri to Guwahati, the 15366 Up Bikaner-Guwahati Express train derailed near Mainaguri. The Bikaner-Guwahati Express derailed between Mainaguri and Domahani.

12 compartments of the train were derailed. The rescue operation is going on all night.

Meanwhile, the Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw left for Kolkata soon after the accident. The Railway Minister arrived at the spot in Domahani of Mainaguri on Friday morning. He toured the whole scene. After that he confronted the journalists and once again mentioned why the accident will be investigated. The Railway Minister described the train accident as "unfortunate". He also said that our primary goal, for now, is rescue work.

The railway minister reached the spot on Friday morning. He toured all the places by trolley. He also went to the hospital to meet the injured. He also told the media from the spot, "There was a sudden defect in the engine parts. An investigation is underway to find out the details. There was no disturbance on the track. It is a very tragic accident. The rescue operation is over. The exact cause of the accident will be investigated. The real cause is being investigated to avoid recurrence of such incidents. The Prime Minister is investigating the whole incident. I'm in contact with him."

He also added, "It seems that the accident happened due to some technical fault. Why and how it happened should be investigated. It will be examined how any part suddenly stopped working or whether any part stopped working at all. Details can only be known once the investigation is complete. Loco has spoken to the pilot.

He added, “There was no problem for the coach. New LHB coaches could not be introduced on most trains. However, there was no problem for the coach. The whole incident will be investigated. Today, the Commissioner of Railway Safety will investigate. Officials will arrive shortly.

It is pertinent to mention that compensation of Rs 5 lakh per head has been announced for the victims of yesterday's train accident. On the other hand, Rs 1 lakh has been announced for the seriously injured and Rs 25,000 for those with minor injuries.
