Internet Explorer redirects to Microsoft Edge
There was a time when browsers didn't have multiple options. Everyone believed in this Microsoft browser in the world market. Internet Explorer was the go-to place for knowing anything. According to the company, users will reach the new version of Microsoft Edge only after the Windows Update on February 14. In that case Internet Explorer will not be visible forever. Even the taskbar will not see the Explorer logo from now on.
👉 Reasons for closing Internet Explorer
However, browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome entered the market one by one to catch the competition market. In that case, Microsoft updated this classic browser. However, Internet Explorer lags behind in keeping up with the latest technology. Finally, this popular browser of Microsoft is going to be closed on February 14, 2023.
Even, repeated updates in the past did not work. So the company has decided to stop Internet Explorer on Microsoft's official site. Microsoft has said that the company is shutting down the latest version of Internet Explorer 11 on all Windows computers. The company is launching the new version of Microsoft Edge on February 14, 2023.
👉 Microsoft's decision on IE11
Microsoft said that the Internet Explorer 11 desktop web browser will be disabled on some Windows 10 systems starting February 14, 2023 with the Microsoft Edge update. This follows previous warnings that IE11 will be permanently disabled this month and that the legacy web browser called Internet Explorer will be disabled via a Windows update. Microsoft first announced plans to end IE11 support in Windows 10 and Microsoft 365 in August 2020, and released an official retirement announcement in May 2021.
👉 Microsoft Edge as an alternative to Internet Explorer
According to Microsoft's plan "Organizations that have already migrated from IE11 with IE Mode to Microsoft Edge will not be affected by the disablement. Organizations that have not transitioned to Microsoft Edge with IE Mode may experience immediate business disruption."
"Devices that have not already been redirected from IE11 to Microsoft Edge will be redirected with today's Microsoft Edge update." The Microsoft Edge update is now rolling out to the Microsoft Edge stable channel next week through a progressive rollout process, and Microsoft will remove all IE11 visual references (including the taskbar and start menu) at that point.
👉 How to Switch from IE11 to Microsoft Edge
Microsoft has been urging customers to switch to Microsoft Edge with IE Mode for years because it enables backward compatibility and will have support until at least 2029. To currently enable IE mode in Microsoft Edge, you need to go to edge://settings/defaultbrowser, toggle the 'Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer' option and restart the browser.
