Vaishali, Bihar, 01 August, 2023: A daring daylight bank robbery unfolded on Tuesday in Vaishali, sending shockwaves through the community. A group of around six criminals stormed into the AXIS Bank branch near Lalganj police station, leaving staff and customers in a state of terror. In a swift operation, the culprits, brandishing firearms, managed to make away with more than one crore rupees in cash.

The incident occurred around 11:30 am, just as the bank was bustling with its usual morning activities. The criminals, all masked, entered the premises discreetly, catching the bank staff off-guard. With pistols in hand, they swiftly took control of the bank, making the manager and cash-counter employees hostage.

Witnesses reported that the robbers methodically emptied the bank's cash counters and lockers, stuffing their bags with a considerable sum of money. Within minutes, they fled the scene, leaving the bank staff and customers shaken but unhurt.

Law enforcement was alerted promptly, and police officers, including Deputy Superintendent (DSP), rushed to the site. Investigators are closely examining CCTV footage and grilling bank personnel to glean more insights into the incident. The exact amount of money taken is still under investigation, but preliminary estimates suggest a haul of over one crore rupees.

"The robbers seemed to have a well-coordinated plan, arriving with bags and striking when the bank was occupied," shared a bank employee. "Their sudden display of firearms caught us off-guard, and we were left with no choice but to comply."

Tirhut Inspector General (IG) Pankaj Sinha revealed that initial findings indicate the involvement of four criminals, all captured on security cameras. Police teams are conducting extensive raids to track down the culprits, who managed to conceal their identities behind masks during the robbery.

Vaishali police have taken to social media to share images of the suspects involved in the heist, including a female accomplice. The pictures capture three individuals hurriedly leaving the scene on a motorcycle, with a bag slung over one of their shoulders. The woman accompanying the criminals is also captured on surveillance footage visiting the bank's ATM prior to the robbery attempt, accompanied by a man who appears to be one of the robbers.

Authorities are urging citizens to come forward with any information that could aid in solving this audacious crime. As investigations continue, the community remains on edge, hoping for a swift resolution and the recovery of the stolen funds.
