Tamil Nadu, 31 July, 2023: Tragedy struck at Masthanapatti toll plaza in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, where a dedicated employee lost his life in a harrowing accident involving a speeding truck. The victim, Satish Kumar, a resident of Sakhimangalam in Madurai district, met his untimely demise in a devastating incident caused by a truck's brake failure.

The ill-fated event unfolded when the truck driver, K Balakrishnan (41) from Guntur, lost control of his vehicle due to the malfunctioning brakes. The truck was heavily laden with 30 tons of rice, en route from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh to a destination in Kerala. The investigation later revealed that Balakrishnan tried to control the truck's speed by maneuvering towards a roadside tree, but his efforts were thwarted by the presence of roadside restaurants obstructing the way. Approaching the toll booth and noticing a queue of vehicles, Balakrishnan made a quick decision to divert the truck to the opposite side of the toll booth to avoid hitting the queued vehicles.

Unfortunately, Satish Kumar was unaware of the unfolding chaos and attempted to halt the truck, which led to the fatal collision. Subsequently, the truck collided with an oncoming passenger vehicle, resulting in injuries to two passengers in the car and a female toll booth employee.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities seek to understand the full extent of the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life and injury.
