Week-long Road Safety Program: Responding to Traffic Signals
Kolkata: Our school, popularly known as Durganagar High School, in collaboration with the local police station, undertook a week-long program from 2nd December to 5th December, 2023 to raise awareness and educate students on the importance of responding properly to traffic signals. This program aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to navigate roads safely and prevent accidents.
Role of Students:
- Active Participation: Students actively participated in various sessions, attending workshops, engaging in interactive presentations, and participating in mock traffic scenarios.
- Spreading Awareness: Students were encouraged to become ambassadors of road safety, sharing their learning with their peers, families, and communities.
- Creative Expression: Students showcased their understanding of road safety through posters, slogans, and street plays, raising awareness in an engaging and impactful manner.
Role of Teachers:
- Program Design and Implementation: Teachers played a crucial role in developing the program curriculum, coordinating with the police personnel, and ensuring its smooth execution.
- Facilitating Learning: Teachers facilitated interactive sessions, answered questions, and provided guidance to students throughout the program.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Teachers monitored the progress of students, evaluated their learning, and provided feedback for continuous improvement.
Role of Police Personnel:
- Expert Guidance: Police personnel provided valuable insights into traffic rules and regulations, sharing practical tips and real-life experiences of road accidents.
- Interactive Sessions: Police officers conducted interactive sessions, including simulations and demonstrations, to effectively illustrate traffic safety concepts.

Outcomes:
