1. Read the following text and answer the questions that follow:
MUMBAI, 6 NOVEMBER: Beginning his three-day maiden visit to India by paying homage to the martyrs of the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, US President Barack Obama today asserted that America was committed to stand by India in their joint fight against terrorism.
The US President paid a visit to the memorial to the victims of the 26/11 attacks inside the Heritage Wing of the Taj Mahal Hotel "India and USA are working much closer than ever in the aftermath of the 26/11 savagery", Mr Obama said. The US President's brief statement on his country's joint fight against terrorism with India was candid.
Mr. Obama remarked that the perpetrators of 26/11 have been frustrated in their design to split people in India on religious lines. On the contrary, the "savagery" only firmed up the determination to take on terrorism resolutely.
