Degree in English Grammar
Degree is used to compare an adjective or adverb in English grammar. The main purpose of the degree is to state how much volume or level in an object, person or situation.
Type of degree:
The degree is used to compare an adjective or adverb. It is divided into three forms - positive, comparative and superlative.
Positive degree (simple form) - The original form of an adjective or adjective, which has no comparison.
Example:
He is Tall. (He is tall.)
She Runs fast. (She runs fast.)
Comparative degree (comparative form) - is used to compare between two objects, individuals or situations.
Example:
He is taller than his brother. (He is longer than his brother.)
She Runs Faster Than Her Friend. (She runs faster than her friend.)
Superlative degree (supreme form) - three or more objects, individuals, or one of the conditions are used to describe one of the best.
Example:
He is the tallest boy in the class. (He is the longest boy in the classroom.)
She runs the fastest of all. (She runs the fastest in all.)

1. Japan is as rich as America. (Positive)
America is not richer than Japan. (Comparative)
2. The dog is not so clever as fox. (Positive)
The fox is cleverer than the dog. (Comparative)
3. Robinho is the best striker in the world. (Superlative)
Robinho is better than any other striker in the world. (Comparative)
No other striker in the world is so good as Robinho. (Positive)
4. Netaji is one of the greatest leaders of India. (Superlative)
Netaji is greater than most other leaders of India. (Comparative)
Very few leaders of India is as great as Netaji. (Positive)
5. Some singers are at least as great as Manna Dey. (Positive)
Manna Dey is not greater than some other singers. (Comparative)
Manna Dey is not the greatest of all singers. (Superlative)
6. The Victoria Memorial Hall is less magnificent than the Tajmahal. (Comparative)
TheVictoria Memorial Hall is not as magnificent as the Tajmahal. (Positive)
